When I set the buffer setting in VE Pro to 1, the same amount of noisy sounds, but then often the VE Pro RTAS plugin looses connection to VE-Server.
With VE-Pro as active window are more noises and crackle sounds as with Pro Tools as the active window. With latency settings smaller than 512 and 2 buffer setting in VE, I hear crackling sounds on playback. Pro Tools LE 8.0.3 (which is currently also beta for use on Win7 圆4)ĭigidesign MBox2 Mini and Soniccore Scope Audio-Interfaces.Ĭurrently I use VE Pro only on 1 computer, this means VE-Pro Server and Client runs on the same computer connected through localhost (127.0.0.1).
PC with Abit IP35 Mainboard, Intel E8200 Dual-Core 2,72Ghz, 8GB RAM, ca. I have some issues with crackling sound on latency buffer sizes smaller that 512 and sometimes connection problems between VE-Pro Plugin und Server. VE Pro works ok on my DAW, but it could be better.
I tested the current beta and bought it, because it seems currently the best alternative to me for getting most out of my 64Bit Windows DAW with Pro Tools. I'm very happy to see that VE Pro available as RTAS Plugin now. It's a shame, I don't see in VSL Choir a reason for replacement of EW Choir. Really nice for classical chorals without words, but thats all and it's too little for that price.
But it seems, that the VSL choir lib aims to a completely different range of use. I was in hope, that VSL will bring out a better sounding and feature rich choir lib as EWQL SC is, to a competitive pricing. But maybe, such type of realistic and usage area isn't the aim of VSL Choir.įor one of the more expensive choir libs on the market, I had expected more vowels, consonants, features and a wider spectrum of usability. It makes a great difference if a choir only sings Aah, independent of their great expression, or if the choir sings real words. If vocals do sing words, independent of understanding them all, it brings some kind of special human feel to a production. Keyword Wordbuilder or something similar. Will all of them follow to 445,- EUR each?Īnd overall, a really realistic choir do sing words.Only a few vowels and consonants do limit the range of use. Only A und U vowels? What about O, I and E or some often in choir music used consonants like Mmmh. Never heard some subtle sounding A and U out of a sample lib and I hope further demos will show, that this choir can also be powerful and bright.īut, it seems to me an unfinished product. Ok, the sound ist amazing, very clear and detailed and I'm sure that legato, glissando is the best on the market. I don't really know the best way to go about getting the unit repaired since mine is in warranty but yeah ! Hope this is helpful.I'm a little bit dissapointed of this new product. Does Digidesign handle DOAs or do we have to mess with retailers. So I'm off to chase the dealer for a replacement (given the unit is less than 2 weeks old!).
Every other scenario works - Even my junky USB hub worked. Retesting everything with the USB connector held just right. Releasing the plug, the crackle returns to deafen you another day. Holding the connector at one precise angle, the audio is crystal clear. In the end, I discovered that the USB socket in the MBOX is a lousy looking thing and barely holds onto the plug. The reason why things SEEMED to change was that I was moving the USB connector on the back of the MBOX 2. Tried different ports and thought I was getting somewhere!! This was a complete RED HERRING!! In the end, hundreds of forum pages and silly reloads later, I tried a handful of USB cables, and the cracking noise seemed to change.
After 3 days of tearing my hair out wondering why my audio sounded "like vinyl" - not being able to do any VO work and with constant snap-crackle and pop while trying every silly software and hardware setting possible - crackling apparent even usually with PT not started, I've finally WORKED it out!!įirstly, I'm beginning to wonder if there's an epidemic of this specifically with MBOX 2 units - But the issue here was definitely the physical USB port on my MBOX 2.
