View when I spoke with Savage on the phone last summer, I explained to them up front what ammo I ran in my Low Profile 12 varmint guns. I purchased this rifle because the Heavy Barrel and Accutrigger makes this a sub MOA shooter if it works.
I have owned 7 Axis rifles in the past and with minor trigger mods they all shot 1-1.5 MOA. I emailed Savage and have not heard back yet.so I called them and they are not taking calls. Makes me think there are also head spacing issues. Tomorrow I will reset the entire scope.normally loose scopes are an 8 MOA thing.I am super concerned about not even landing on paper at 25 yards. Additionally the scope not even close to being aligned with the rifle.
Took the rifle home.and found every single screw loose on it.not just the scope but also the bedding screws. I was shooting at 100 and could not land on paper at all.I moved to 25 yards and the same thing. The magazine was very difficult to click into place.ģ. Light primer strikes on 100% reliable ammo.about 10-15% of what I shot was like this.Ģ. I took this rifle out to the range for the first time on Sunday.I found similar issues to what you had with some additional.ġ. 223 rifle on closeout at Walmart.did not get the deal you did but do have the identical rifle. Ok.I found this article after doing a google search.back in August I purchased the identical. Readily purchased at Midway or Brownells. For Savage the only other thing you need is the correct bolt head for the cartridge you want to use. On the other side of my block I made a jig for Remington actions and recoil lug (Remage) Just flip it around. Savage has a pin to align the recoil lug. The whole assembly then gets put in a vise and you go to town. The material removed combined with the slightly smaller diameter of the hole in the wood, the half inch bolts and the action bolt hold the action super secure. Then cut the whole thing in half with a table saw or band saw. Next drill 2 half inch holes for the clamping bolts and a hole in the center of the hole saw hole for the front action screw to bolt into. I can not remember off the top but there is a common hole saw bit that is slightly smaller than the front of the action on a Savage or Remington.
I made my own action vice by using a hole saw and drilling through a 4x4 block of oak. The only other firearm I had a defect with is Taurus - where the gun would discharge when engaging the safety! I will never buy a Taurus again. I hope Savage has no military contracts - if so I hope my complaints find its way to the quality system complaints on their lack of control and risk management. I can't believe the company has a risk management department that lets defective firearms out. An internet search will show this has been an issue for some years. I expected the gun to be a low end shooter with low expectations, but letting defective guns out of a factory is really intolerable. I contacted Savage via email as nobody answered their phone line. This is what is reccomended by many in online gun forums for many years as the issue is apparent with these guns with no known fixes and Savage themselves returning guns back with the same problems they started with? I took the gun and disassmbled/cleaned the bolt assembly with brake cleaner and light lubrication - same thing no difference. I tired Federal, Winchester, Remington, Hornady, Fiocchi, commercial and mil-type ammo and note - Duds from the Savage and other ammo from same boxes work 100% in 6 other firearms! Oddly Wolf went off about 50% OF THE TIME I thought I got a great deal with one of the Walmart Clearance Axis (2) Heavy Barrel 223 with Accutrigger in Camo for $79! BUT - The issue is it light primer strikes 90% or more of the time.
